The test detects tiny amounts of blood (usually invisible to the naked eye) released from bowel cancers or pre-cancerous growths into the bowel motion. This may be an early warning sign.
It is recommend that you have a bowel cancer screening test every year if you:
* Are over 50 years of age and have no symptoms.
You should talk to your doctor first if:
* You have a family history or personal history of bowel cancer.
Have symptoms that concern you.

* The pathology service fee is an additional $15.40. To receive your rebate from Medicare you must return the pathology form given to you by your doctor with the test card. We will lodge the Medicare rebate with Medicare Australia on your behalf and you will receive a cheque in the mail.
+ Your private health fund may provide you a rebate once you present them with an official receipt from Enterix, the pathology company for the InSure bowel cancer screening service. A receipt may be requested from Enterix when you return the completed test card for the pathology analysis in the pre-paid envelope.
