NEW OmegaGen Cardio has been shown to reduce cholesterol naturally
Friday 19 June, 2009: The estimated four million* Australians who take regular supplements of fish oil to improve their heart health and arthritic symptoms are now being presented with a unique, patented, alternative source of omega-3 that research shows can be even more effective.
The oil from harvested krill which is manufactured into the patented Neptune Krill Oil - already popular in North America and Europe - is now being licensed and distributed in Australia as OmegaGen Cardio.
Krill (Euphausia superba) are small, shrimp-like crustaceans, about one to six centimetres in length, predominantly found in Antarctic waters.
As an example of the potency of the oil derived from krill, randomised control trials show that Neptune Krill Oil is significantly more effective than fish oil in the reduction of LDL1 ('bad cholesterol') and increases HDL levels by 44% ('good cholesterol').
Risk-benefit analysis2 suggests that the regular use of Neptune Krill Oil has the potential to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events - heart attacks, strokes etc - by 52%. Consider what that means - people who take OmegaGen Cardio regularly are 52% less likely than the general population to have a cardiac event in the next 10 years.
The same analysis suggests that this reduction in risk of having a cardiovascular event is significantly better than that provided by fish oil.
OmegaGen Cardio naturally includes antioxidant protection providing greater than 47 times the level found in most fish oils3.
Gerald Quigley, a practicing community pharmacist and accredited herbalist based in Melbourne, is another who is interested in possible community health benefits.
'People already know about, and benefit from, the omega-3 fatty acids available in fish oil supplements,' says Mr Quigley. 'What people should now consider is the increased benefit of the omega-3 fatty acids delivered through OmegaGen Cardio - it's like a 'supercharged' fish oil.'
