Product Information
For relief of nausea and vomiting.
What's It For?
Morning sickness affects around half of all pregnant women, usually in the first trimester. Blackmores Morning Sickness Formula is a combination of vitamin B6 and ginger, both of which have been shown in clinical trials to reduce nausea and vomiting associated with pregnancy - without side-effects.
Active Ingredients Per Tablet:
Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine hydrochloride) 25 mg
Zingiber officinale (Ginger) rhizome powder 400 mg.
Special Features and Benefits:
Suitable for use during pregnancy.
Research has shown ginger provides effective relief of morning sickness by reducing the degree of nausea and number of incidences of vomiting with no side-effects being observed.
Includes vitamin B6 at the dose used in research, where severe nausea and vomiting of morning sickness were significantly decreased.
Mode of Action:
Women suffering from hyperemesis gravidum (the most severe form of morning sickness) were given the powdered ginger root (in tablet form) in a randomised double-blind cross-over trial in 1990. The dose used was 250 mg four times per day. The researchers concluded that there was a significant reduction in both the severity of nausea and number of attacks of vomiting experienced. All evidence confirms the safety of ginger in pregnancy provided normal doses are consumed.
In a randomised, double-blind placebo controlled trial pregnant women were given 25 mg of vitamin B6 every 8 hours for a period of 3 days. Again, the results showed a significant reduction in severe nausea and vomiting, and no side-effects were experienced.
