CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser
The CeraVe SA formula contains salicylic acid to exfoliate without compromising the skin’s natural barrier, as well as hyaluronic acid to hydrate and retain moisture and 3 essential ceramides to moisturise and protect the skin's barrier. This unique combination of ingredients makes CeraVe SA Cleanser an effective way to remove oil, dirt and makeup as well as smooth and improve skin texture.
Dead skin cells can build up on the skin surface and create dry patches. Exfoliation helps to diminish dry patches and improve skin texture. The CeraVe smoothing cleanser contains salicylic acid which is a BHA. BHA’s can penetrate deeper into pores than AHAs to enable a deep cleanse and remove built up residue.
Suitable for very dry, rough and or bumpy skin. Also suitable for skin prone to Keratosis Pilaris.

The Best Cerave Cleanser
I use this cleanser smoothing everywhere! My face, my back, shoulders and even occasionally on my underarms to help with build up. It's the perfect gentle smoothing cleanser that gets rid of any little bumps and build up, bacteria and one pump foams up nicely.
I usually buy the large bottle of this as I like to use it on more than just my face and find any time feel some blemishes coming, using this for a few days makes them disappear quickly. It also works well on any roughness I have on my upper arms. I cannot recommend this enough.

OK as general cleanser
I found this in my stash so decided to use it up, it is a sample size and I don't know where I got it! As it is a sample it doesn't have any information on it so it wasn't until I came here that I found out all about it.
This cleanser is made in France and has quite a long list of ingredients, many of the actives are listed in the information on this page or of course there is more on the CeraVe website. The website says they do not test on animals.
My skin is mature, combination and my face doesn't particularly suffer rough or bumpy skin. However I do have KP on my arms so I must remember to try it there. My sample is only 20ml so not really big enough to give it a good trial on my body.
This cleanser is fragrance free and is a clear gel. I found it lathered up nicely, although not excessively, and left my skin feeling clean but not tight or dehydrated. I have been using it in the mornings so I don't know how well it would take off make up.
I have no problems with this cleanser and would happily use it again, however I wouldn't buy it as I am not the target market and I would be paying a high price for something I don't need. I do recommend giving it a try if this is a product your skin needs.

Gentle gel cleasnser with B3, PHA, SA
This cleanser is marketed for marketed for rough, bumpy skin and keratosis pilaris. I was surprised to find that despite being labelled as a salicylic acid cleanser, this formula actually contains more gluconolactone (PHA) and niacinamide than salicylic acid.
I've used Cerave's foaming cleanser, hydrating cleanser and the cream-to-form cleanser and have liked them, but this is my new favourite. This foams up really well like their foaming cleanser, but it is slightly more hydrating in comparison. It doesn't sting my eyes at all, and rinses off clean with my skin feeling soft and lightly hydrated. For someone like me who loves foaming cleansers but has skin prone to dehydration, this is just perfect.
If you are scared off by the 'salicylic acid' name, don't be. Even though Cerave did not disclose the percentage with this cleanser, they did disclose the percentage for their newer blemish cleanser which has 2% salicylic acid. Judging by the order of the ingredients in the ingredients list, this one should have a much lower percentage. This really is super gentle, and as mentioned above, it has more PHA anyway, which is a very gentle acid. If you like Cerave's foaming cleanser, but just want a little bit of gentle exfoliating help, this is a wonderful option and great value for money. It comes in 236ml and 473ml.

New favourite foaming cleanser with B3, PHA, SA
I've enjoyed using Cerave's foaming cleanser, hydrating cleanser and the cream-to-form cleanser. When this smoothing SA cleanser came out, I wasn't sure if it would suit me as it was marketed for rough, bumpy skin and keratosis pilaris. However, I read some reviews and it sounded very gentle for the face, so I decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did. My bottle is manufactured in France and this review is based on that (newer bottles in the shops are now made in China).
The formula has an undisclosed amount of salicylic acid (BHA), an ingredient that generally works well with my congested pores. Even though Cerave did not disclose the percentage with this cleanser, they did disclose the percentage for their newer blemish cleanser which has 2%. Judging by the order of the ingredients in the ingredients list, this one should have a much lower percentage, which suited me well as I didn't want anything too strong for everyday use. The formula also has glycerin, niacinamide and gluconolactone (PHA), and of course the ceramides in all cerave formulas. Interestingly, gluconolactone is the 6th ingredient, and salicylic acid is much further down, so I would be inclined to call this a PHA cleanser rather than SA cleanser.
The gel cleanser foamed up really well like their foaming cleanser, but I found it to be slightly more hydrating in comparison. It didn't sting my eyes at all, and rinses off clean with my skin feeling soft and lightly hydrated. It was not drying at all. For someone who loves foaming cleansers but has skin prone to dehydration, this is just perfect.
If you like Cerave's foaming cleanser, but just want a bit more from your cleanser, this is a wonderful gentle cleanser with niacinamide, PHA and BHA that is excellent value for money. It comes in 236ml and 473ml.

I found that it smells funny and doesn’t help at all. If anything, it made my texture worse.
The size and price are decent. It lathers well and removes oil from the skin (ie my face felt right after using it), but that’s about it.
I think I’m ready to give up on Cerave products.
I would not repurchase.
Skinstitut glycolic scrub is a far better product for skin texture.
